Provided are a target detection device, and the like, that suppress received power reduction and enhance detection range performance by setting a plurality of reception gates so as to be gradually offset along the time axis direction. The target detection device is provided with signal transmission and reception units (1-5) for using a transmitting and receiving antenna to radiate transmission pulses into space and receive reception signals that are reflected waves resulting from the transmission pulses and target detection units (6-12) for carrying out A/D conversion on the reception signals, setting a plurality of reception gates defining data acquisition positions so as to be temporally offset in order in accordance with a sampling clock, determining target detection signals having signal intensities that vary according to the temporal ratio of the inclusion of reception data resulting from the A/D conversion of the reception signals in each reception gate, and outputting signals indicating target detection according to the signal intensities of the target detection signals. |
