PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a system and a method for providing a fuel cell stack assembly having a stack end cell for facilitating improvement of the diagnostic capability and detection capability.SOLUTION: The anode side of a FC stack end cell may be configured to have a lower anode gas flow rate than other cells in the FC stack. Furthermore, the cathode side of a FC stack end cell may be configured to have a higher anode gas flow rate than other cells in the FC stack. The disclosed FC stack end cell especially allows for detection of a disadvantageous state and/or event in a FC stack assembly, before other cells in the FC stack are adversely affected by the disadvantageous state and/or event.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1
