PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a video transmission device, video reception device, video transmission method, and video reception method that appropriately transmit and receive video data even if the video data is of high definition exceeding a communication band for baseband transmission.SOLUTION: A video transmission device 4 (STB) comprises: a communication interface IF1 connected with a video reception device 5 by a communication cable including a transmission line for baseband transmission and a communication line for data communication; an acquisition unit 45 (LAN transmission/reception unit) for acquiring video coded data from which first video data can be reproduced; and a data processing unit 41 for generating second video data and data for restoration from the video coded data. The data processing unit 41 is connected with the communication interface IF1 so that the second video data is transmitted by the transmission line and the data for restoration by the communication line.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 2
