PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To keep listening easiness of a dialog by fixing an average loudness value before and after converting a program audio channel number.SOLUTION: Pre-conversion loudness value calculation means 11 of a program audio channel number conversion device 1 calculates average loudness values of all channels, dialog and background sound regarding all intervals of a program for an input audio signal. Channel number conversion means 12 converts a channel number of the input audio signal. Post-conversion loudness value calculation means 13 calculates average loudness values of all the channels, dialog and background sound regarding all the intervals of the program for the audio signal after the channel number conversion. Loudness adjustment means 14 adjusts a level of the audio signal after the channel number conversion in such a manner that the average loudness values of all the channels are matched before and after the channel number conversion and that the average loudness value of the dialog is matched to a predetermined value that is equal to or greater than the average loudness value of the dialog before the channel number conversion.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1
