PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce an impact noise generated when an ADF(automatic document feeder) is closed, without increase in apparatus size.SOLUTION: An image reading apparatus comprises: an ADF 5 with hinges with opening and closing mechanisms and an image reading part 4 for reading an image. The image reading part 4 comprises: push-in pins 301 for detecting the opening and closing angle of the ADF 5 by swinging with the opening and closing operation of the ADF 5; and rotary dampers 302 which ease an impact between the ADF5 and the image reading part 4 generated when the ADF 5 is closed by engaging with the push-in pins 301.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 4
