PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for efficiently manufacturing an optical fiber strand or an optical fiber core wire without deteriorating the quality and the optical and physical characteristics of the optical fiber strand and the like even when an ultraviolet curable coating material containing a low boiling point component is used.SOLUTION: In an optical fiber strand or optical fiber core wire manufacturing method which applies an ultraviolet curable coating material to an outer periphery of a quartz fiber or an optical fiber strand and irradiates ultraviolet rays to cure the coating material, the ultraviolet curable coating material containing 3 mass% or more of a component having a boiling point of 220°C or less is subjected to the ultraviolet irradiation using an LED.SELECTED DRAWING: None |
