A device and method for protecting a voltage surge of a PEC circuit in a variable-frequency household electric apparatus, the device comprising: a first voltage detection module (30) used to detect an input voltage of the PEC circuit; a current detection module (40) used to detect an input current of the PEC circuit; a second voltage detection module (50) used to detect an output voltage of the PEC circuit; a protection module (60) used to compare the input voltage and the output voltage and generate a first comparison result and compare the input current and a preset maximum allowable current to generate a second compare result and respectively control, according to the first compare result and the second compare result, the PEC circuit via a PEC control module (10) and a motor via a motor controller (20). The protection device can prevent the PEC circuit from being damaged and the machine from stopping when a voltage surge occurs. |
