The present invention relates to metal nanoparticles functionalized with an oligonucleotide, to a method for the preparation thereof, to methods for detecting the presence of a nucleic acid in a sample or a target sequence in said nucleic acid using said nanoparticles, as well as to kits comprising the reagents necessary for obtaining said nanoparticles.
