PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a coating device capable of obtaining a coating which is free of unevenness in spite of supplying of a coating liquid by a backup roll and is free of the coating defect by splashing of the coating liquid in spite of high-speed coating and a method of manufacturing a coated object. SOLUTION: This coating device is constituted by disposing a reverse coating roll which rotates to face the traveling direction of a base material to be coated and has a doctor blade just before the base material to be coated and the backup roll which is disposed on the lower side thereof. Metering rolls for picking up the coating liquid are disposed before or after the backup roll or both thereof. The coating device described above and the method of manufacturing the coated object by the same are provided.
