PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for synthesizing 2-carboxyanthraquinone comprising oxidizing ethyl group of 2-ethylanthraquinone with an aqueous solution of nitric acid. SOLUTION: This method is to produce the anthraquinone used for producing films used in producing packagings suitable for preserving an article sensitive to oxygen, e.g. a food and absorbing the oxygen.
