A dental handpiece is disclosed which has a housing (11) having a wall, a bur sleeve (12) for receiving and holding a dental tool therein, a bearing (15, 35) for rotatably supporting the bur sleeve (12), a rotary dust control member (20) fixed on the bur sleeve (12), and a stationary dust control member (21, 41) forming a gap in cooperation with the rotary dust control member (20) and the wall of the housing (11) for preventing entry of contaminants inside the housing (11).
