PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a polarizing plate improving color reproducibility and brightness of a liquid crystal shutter and to provide a liquid crystal shutter utilizing the same. SOLUTION: The polarizing plate for the liquid crystal shutter, of which the characteristics of the transmitted light satisfy either one of the following relations when linearly polarized light irradiates the polarizing plate in parallel with the absorption axis direction, and further the liquid crystal shutter composed of the polarizing plate laminated with a liquid crystal cell are provided. Transmittance at 440 nm wavelength is <=1% and transmittance at 530 nm wavelength is >=80% (1), transmittance at 540 nm wavelength is <=2% and transmittance at 620 nm wavelength is >=65% (2), transmittance at 580 nm wavelength is <=20% and transmittance at 450 nm wavelength is >=60% (3) or transmittance at 640 nm wavelength is <=10% and transmittance at 530 nm wavelength is >=35% (4).
