[Class 109] A cleat for anchoring a returned portion of a rope, &c. comprises a plate 4 having a fixing aperture 6 and opposed slots 5, the arrangement of the slots being such that a line drawn from the aperture 6 to the inner end of the nearer slot lies at an obtuse angle to the slot or to the entry portion of the slot Alternatively, Fig. 7, the aperture 6 is laterally offset with respect to a line joining the inner ends of the two slots to such an extent that the aperture is to one side of a length of rope engaged in the slots and placed under tension. |
