ABSOLUTE STEERING ANGLE SENSOR

PURPOSE: An absolute steering angle sensor is provided to detect a present absolute steering angle of a steering wheel precisely by detecting the number of turns of the steering wheel in an associative operation with an angle detection pattern. CONSTITUTION: A 360 degree detection code disc(11) having a first gear(13) and plural angle detection patterns(14) is rotated with a steering wheel axis(S). detection code disc(15) for the steering wheel turning number is rotatively mounted below the 360 degree detection code disc(11) and has a second gear(16) and patterns(17) for detecting turning numbers. A first light receiving/emitting devices(21) detect the number of turns of the steering wheel together with the angle detection patterns(14), and second light receiving/emitting devices(22) detect the number of turns of the steering wheel together with the steering wheel turning patterns(17).
