PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an appearance inspection method of an object which quantitatively evaluates a defect in a shape which is difficult to be detected in a visual inspection to be detected in an appearance inspection of the object in a complicated shape, and to provide a device for the appearance inspection method.SOLUTION: A method for inspecting appearance of an object is constituted so that: an inspection target object 5 is loaded; the inspection target object is imaged while continuously moving the inspection target object in at least one direction; surface unevenness information on the inspection target object 5 is acquired while acquiring an image of the inspection target object 5 including texture information on a surface of the inspection target object 5; a three-dimensional shape of the inspection target object 5 is restored from the acquired surface unevenness information on the inspection target object 5; appearance information on the object with surface texture is obtained from the acquired image and the restored three-dimensional shape of the inspection target object 5; a plurality of features is extracted from the obtained appearance information, at least one feature of the plurality of extracted features is compared with a feature corresponding to the at least one feature of preset reference data; and the appearance of the object to be an inspection target is evaluated. |
