PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To produce a catalyst capable of efficiently decomposing a perfluoro compd. and having the long life. SOLUTION: In the decomposing method, a perfluoro compd. is decomposed in a vapor phase in the presence of steam or the steam and a molecular oxygen. In this case, the catalyst consisting of an oxide of at least one kind of an element selected from a group consisting of aluminum, boron, alkaline earth metal, titanium, zirconium, lanthanum, cerium and yttrium, rare earth metal, vanadium, niobium, chromium, manganese, iron, cobalt and nickel with phosphorus is used. |
