Embodiments of an apparatus and system are described for an augmented reality computing device. Some embodiments may comprise an enclosure comprising a display portion and a component portion, the display portion arranged to support a transparent display and the component portion arranged to support a processor and an augmented reality module operative on the processor to display one or more graphical user interface elements on the transparent display and to arrange the one or more graphical user interface elements based on one or more elements in a real world environment in proximity to the computing device. 1. A computing device, comprising:
an enclosure comprising a display portion and a component portion, the display portion arranged to support a transparent display and the component portion arranged to support a processor; and an augmented reality module operative on the processor to:
display one or more graphical user interface elements on the transparent display and to arrange the one or more graphical user interface elements based on a plurality of elements in a real world environment in proximity to the computing device;receive a selection of a first one of the plurality of elements in the real world environment on the display portion of the enclosure;convert the first one of the plurality of elements selected in the real world environment to a virtual representation;automatically adjust one or more characteristics of the virtual representation, the one or more characteristics comprising at least a size of the virtual representation adjusted based in part on at least one of a size, dimension, and orientation of a second one of the plurality of elements in the real world environment;anddisplay the adjusted virtual representation as an overlay on the second one of the plurality of elements on the transparent display.
