A membrane separation device wherein the occurrence of membrane clogging is minimized to reduce a load in a filtering operation. A membrane module (3) is configured by providing separation membranes (4) in a housing (6), which has openings in the upper and lower portions thereof, in such a manner that the separation membranes (4) are upright and are parallel to each other. A water flow guide (5) is provided to the membrane module (3) in the flow path thereof through which water to be treated flows, and the water flow guide (5) is provided so that the area (S2) of the opening of the flow path out of which treated water flows is less than the area (S1) of the opening of the flow path into which the water to be treated flows. Such membrane modules (3) are stacked on each other in the direction of the height of the housing (6) to configure a membrane unit (2). A membrane separation unit (1) is configured by providing an air diffuser (7) below the membrane unit (2).
