1. A percutaneous bone conduction prosthesis, comprising:
a percutaneous bone conduction abutment configured to extend through skin over a mastoid bone of a recipient; an operationally removable component including a coupling apparatus and a bone conduction vibrator; and an adapter, wherein the abutment is connected to the adapter and the coupling apparatus is releasably coupled to the adapter, wherein the adapter includes a plurality of male portions that respectively retractably extend outward away from a longitudinal axis of the adapter under an overhang of the abutment, thereby connecting the adapter to the abutment.
