The invention relates to a method for mounting a lock (2) for a movable panel of a motor vehicle onto said movable panel (18), characterized in that: the lock (2) is positioned on the movable panel (18) by aligning two first openings (11a, 11b) of the lock (2) with two through-holes (10a, 10b) of the movable panel (18) using two positioning means, at least one of which comprises a temporary indexer (19, 20, 26); the lock (2) is attached to the movable panel (18) by screwing a first attachment screw into a third opening (11c) of the lock (2) through a third circular through-hole (10c) of the movable panel (18); and the temporary indexer (19, 20, 26) is replaced by a second attachment screw that is screwed into the cleared opening (11a) of the lock (2) through the circular through-hole (10a) of the movable panel (18). The invention also relates to a lock assembly for a movable panel of motor vehicle, comprising: a lock (2) to be secured to a movable panel in which at least three through-holes (10a, 10b, 10c) for attaching the lock (2) are provided, a first through-hole (10a) having a circular shape and a second through-hole (10b) having an oblong shape, the long portion of which is oriented parallel to the straight line passing through the center of said two through-holes (10a, 10b); and attachment screws to be assembled into corresponding threads of the lock (2) via said through-holes (10a, 10b, 10c), characterized in that it comprises at least one temporary indexer (10a, 10b, 10c) having a first portion (21, 27) configured to engage with a first opening (11a, 11b) of the movable panel (18), and a second portion (22) adjacent to said first portion (21, 27), said second portion (22) being configured to engage with a first circular through-hole (10a) of the movable panel (18). |
