The present invention relates to a hydroxyl-terminated polyester intermediate which comprises the reaction product of one or more C2 to C12 linear diols with one or more C2 to C12 linear diacids and which has reduced cyclic oligomer content. The hydroxyl-terminated polyester intermediate may be made in the presence of an enzyme or treated with an enzyme to reduce the cyclic oligomer content. The present invention also relates to thermoplastic polyurethane compositions made with the hydroxyl-terminated polyester intermediate having reduced cyclic oligomer content.
