These enhanced properties can be attributed to elevated levels of elastin, ahered collagen typcs, and other biochemical changes which contribute to these enhanced properties. Fxamples of devices which would te improved by use A such tissue include heart vaLves, including prcutianeous hearn valve, and vascular grafts, palches and 1he like. Such enhmced iaterials can be sourced riiom specific populations Cf animUls, such as neonatal calves, or in runge-fid adult cattle, or can be fabricaied or created from cell populations exhibiting such propetties. in one embodiment, glaaraldehyde-fixed neonatal pericardial tissue is used to crcatc leaflets in a percutancous lart valve, and may be used without chicnical fixation, with or wnihout processes to remove residual celhar membranes, and utilized & as scaffold mierial for tissue engineering
