PURPOSE: To provide a pre-ignition detecting device which can early detect a state of pre-ignition. CONSTITUTION: Vibration of an internal combustion engine is detected by a vibration sensors 113, 114 and read into a control part 12. A crank angle is detected by a crank angle sensor 111. When the difference between the crank angle in which vibration level is larger than a specified level and an ignition timing is smaller than a specified value, or when vibration is larger than a specified level before the ignition timing, it judges that a pre-ignition state (PI) occurs. The occurrence of PI is early detected with reliability by judging that PI occurs when the ignition timing is successively controlled at a delayed angle and vibration level is increased. Moreover, the structure can be made simple by providing a first gate which opens after a short time passes after the ignition timing and a second gate which opens thereafter. |
