<p>Longitudinal adjustment of an automobile seat utilises a runner (12) comprising a movable T section rail (14) sliding in a fixed U section rail (16). The movable rail has two abutting metal plates (18,20) delimiting a vertical core (22) connecting with the seat. These plates are extended by opposite folded edges (18A,20A) forming a flange (24) sliding in the fixed rail. The fixed rail has a metal plate (26) folded to form a horizontal core (28) for fixing to the floor (30). This plate is extended by two side webs (32,34) folded towards each other for guiding the flange. The flange engages with ball bearings housed in the fixed rail. A locking system for the movable rail comprises a bolt which engages in notches in the fixed rail side webs. The bolt slides vertically in a cut-out guide in the first abutted plate. The bolt is pivoted on the operating lever between one end support pivoted on the movable rail core and an operating end of this lever.</p> |
