[Problem] To provide a liquid crystal composition having large dielectric anisotropy and low viscosity, and to provide a liquid crystal display element which has high contrast, high-speed responsiveness and, at the same time, high light fastness, and excellent display quality having no burn-in or display defects. [Solution] Provided is a liquid crystal composition containing at least one or two compounds represented by general formula (I). Said liquid crystal composition is very practical as a liquid crystal composition for liquid crystal displays, has high contrast, and is effective for high-speed response and high-quality reliability. |
