<p>PURPOSE: To provide a safe handrail by disposing a longitudinal member having a cross section convenient for tightly grasping by a hand in the longitudinal direction while being conformed to the human body, making the diameter of the lower section of the outside diameter of the cross section of the member larger and the diameter of the upper section of the outside diameter of the cross section smaller and continuously forming the outside diameter. CONSTITUTION: A sectional shape 3a in a line A-A in the shape of the member 1 of a handrail T is formed in an approximately round shape and an outside diameter is formed in a small diameter (s). A sectional shape 3b in a line B-B is formed in a round chamfering shape, and the outside diameter is formed in an intermediate diameter (n). A sectional shape 3c in a line C-C is formed in an approximately square and formed in a large diameter (m). The handrail T is installed onto an external wall 23 in the longitudinal direction in the vertical direction. When the handrail T is clasped unconsciously, the clasped place is confirmed approximately by a hand, and a sense of security is imparted.
