<p>PURPOSE: To provide a liquid crystal display(LCD) with a tablet function which has high picture quality and is fast in response speed by applying a capacity coupling system, which can be integrated with the LCD and is advantageous for the LCD to become miniature and lightweight, and to reduce the cost, to an active matrix type LCD. CONSTITUTION: The LCD is equipped with an element substrate 1 having plural scanning electrodes 111, plural data electrodes 112, plural pixel electrodes 114, and plural switching elements 13, and an opposite substrate 2 which sandwiches liquid crystal 3 with the element substrate 1. Further, the device is equipped with the active matrix type liquid crystal display device which has the element substrate arranged on the side where its display is observed, a waveform detecting means 7 which is brought into contact with the display surface of the liquid crystal display device, and detects signals applied to the scanning electrodes 111 and data electrodes 112 in order through the coupling capacity between the scanning electrodes and data electrodes and outputs detection signals Vobs, and a position detecting means 9 which detects the contact position of the waveform detecting means from the detection signals Vobs.</p> |
