A pickup device according to one embodiment of the present technique is provided with a base unit, a plurality of nozzle units, an angle-varying unit, and a control unit. The plurality of nozzle units are provided to the base unit and have distal-end units capable of holding an object, the length from the base unit to the distal-end units being variable. The angle-varying unit causes the angle of the base unit to change. The control unit is capable of switching between a first mode in which the length of each of the plurality of nozzle units is fixed and the angle of the base unit is controlled, and a second mode in which the length of each of the plurality of nozzle units is varied and the base unit is caused to move toward the object. |
