Provided is an aqueous dye dispersion for aqueous inks, which includes a dye derivative indicated by formula (1), a water-insoluble dye, a dispersant, and water, and thereby which suppresses, even when an aqueous ink is prepared, aggregation of particles in the aqueous ink, and exhibits high dispersion stability during storage. (In formula (1), R1 represents a group indicated by formula (2), R2 represents a group indicated by formula (3), m and n are each 0 or 1 and satisfy m+n=1, and R3 is at least one selected from a hydroxyl group and an amino group. "l" equals 0-2. When l equals 2, each R3 may be identical or different.)
