Provided are: a method for producing a colored layer, wherein the occurrence of a residue is suppressed; and a color filter, a light blocking film, a solid-state imaging element and an image display device, each using a colored layer that is obtained by the above-described production method. The above-described production method comprises: a step a wherein a colored radiation-sensitive composition layer is formed with use of a colored radiation-sensitive composition that contains a coloring agent A, a polymerizable compound B, an alkali-soluble resin C and a photopolymerization initiator D; a step b wherein the colored radiation-sensitive composition layer is exposed to light through a mask so as to be patterned; and a step c wherein a colored layer is formed by processing the light-exposed colored radiation-sensitive composition layer. In the step c, a step c1 wherein a treatment is carried out with use of a developer liquid containing an organic solvent and a step c2 wherein development is carried out with use of an aqueous alkaline solution are sequentially performed in no particular order. |
