PURPOSE:To provide a testosterone-5alpha-reductase inhibitor exhibiting remarkable effect for the prevention and treatment of various diseases caused by 5alpha- dihydrotestosterone such as male alopecia, acne and prostatomegaly. CONSTITUTION:This testosterone-5alpha-reductase inhibitor contains one or more components selected from the extract of Pata devaca, cajueiro, jatoba, Suma roxa, Angico casca, mulungu and paricarna which are Brazilian crude drugs and the extract of Betula alnoides belonging to the family Betulaceae or Lasianthus puberulus belonging to the family Rubiaceae which are used as herb drugs in Thailand. This invention also relates to a pharmaceutical composition or cosmetic composition containing one or more kinds of the above herb drugs or the extract of the above plants. The agent inhibits the testosterone-5alpha- reductase activity to reduce testosterone to 5alpha-dihydrotestosterone. |
