<p>PURPOSE:To provide an electronic telephone directory where the key operation for a retrieval is easy and the telephone number of the retrieval result is easy to be seen. CONSTITUTION:When characters to be basic are arrayed in a matrix shape, the characters corresponding to the one line of a matrix are displayed on a display area 83. When cursor keys 6L and 6R are operated, a cursor is moved one character by one character in a line direction in a display area 83. When cursor keys 6U and 6D are operated, the display of the character in the display area 83 is made to scroll in the column direction at least for a column where the cursor is displayed. When a definite key 6K is operated, the character at the location where the cursor is displayed is fetched in the display area 83. By defining this fetched character as a keyword, the character string of a memory is retrieved. By continuously using the display area 83 and a display area 84 in the up and down directions, the telephone number of the retrieval result is magnified and displayed.</p> |
