The present invention describes a charging system for a defibrillator. The system comprises a charge source adapted to provide energy, a switching converter consisting of coupled isolated inductors, one of the inductors connected to a source of low voltage and the other connected to a high voltage diode, the high voltage diode being connected to a high voltage charge storing unit adapted for storing the charge, the switching converter further comprises of a threshold generator for dynamically adjusting threshold voltage, a self-oscillating unit connected to the charge source on one end, and the high voltage diode connected to a high voltage capacitor on the other, for charging the high voltage capacitor, and a cessation subsystem connected to the charge source for detecting and stopping the charging process on the low voltage side, a controlling unit connected to the switching converter for providing control signal. |
