Provided in embodiments of the present application is a distributed system-based gated launch method, client end and platform. The distributed system comprises a plurality of service units independent from each other, each providing services for a plurality of service items. The service units comprise source service units and target service units, wherein the source service units are service units on which a service upgrade is not performed and the target service units are service units on which the service upgrade is performed. The method comprises: when a service operation for a target service item is detected by a client end, generating a service request, wherein, the target service item is a service item of switching from a source service unit to a target service unit in a gated launch process; determining a target service unit corresponding to the target service item; sending the service request to the target service unit; and receiving a service response information returned by the target service unit. The present application can adopt a gated launch in a distributed system to launch a new version.
