This conveyance system comprises a plurality of conveyance paths juxtaposed in the conveyance direction and each divided into a plurality of zones. Each of the plurality of zones are arranged with: a drive means for the conveyance paths; a load presence sensor detecting the presence or absence of an object to be conveyed; and a slave station driving and stopping the drive means. The slave stations are connected by common data signal lines. The conveyance paths comprise: a mainstream which reaches a conveyance destination point; and a subsidiary stream which starts from a start point different from that of the mainstream and merges into the mainstream upstream from the conveyance destination point. A mainstream measurement slave station is disposed on the mainstream so as to measure the spacing between the objects to be conveyed and transmit the spacing as spacing data to the common data signal lines. A subsidiary stream adjustment slave station is disposed on the subsidiary stream so as to compare the length data obtained by measuring the length of an object to be conveyed and the spacing data obtained through the common data signal lines, and obtain the timing for driving the drive means and causing the object to be conveyed to merge into the mainstream. |
