METHOD AND APPARATUS FOR CONTROLLING PLATE SHAPE AND PLATE CROWN IN HOT TANDEM MILL

PURPOSE:To adjust a plate crown or a plate shape simply, surely and arbitrarily and to obtain an intuitively understandable result without giving an unexpected influence from one control to the other control. CONSTITUTION:A necessary amount of adjustment of the plate crown is obtained from a measured result of the plate crown on the outlet side of a final rolling stand of a hot tandem mill, this and a plate shape changing pattern on each stand are applied to a predetermined process model to calculate the variation of a mechanical crown of each stand (S-2). On one hand, an amount of adjustment of the plate shape in this stand is required from a result of measurement of the plate shape on the outlet side of each stand and the plate shape changing patterns of this and other stands and the condition for a plate crown changing amount = '0' at the final crown are applied to the process model to calculate the mechanical plate crown changing amount (S6). Driving control signal obtained by adding the mechanical plate crown changing amount calculated respectively separately are outputted to an increase bender and a decrease bender at each stand(S7, S8).
