[Problem] To make it possible, using a photoacoustic image generation device and an insertion object, to evaluate whether a plurality of substances having different absorption wavelengths are present in the periphery of a puncture needle without using a plurality of light sources. [Solution] At least a part of a puncture needle (15) is inserted into a sample. An optical fiber (153) guides light of a first wavelength. A first light emission unit (153a) emits the light guided by the optical fiber (153). An optical fiber (154) guides light of a second wavelength. A second light emission unit (154a) emits the light guided by the optical fiber (154). When light of the first wavelength is emitted from the first light emission unit (153a), a light absorption/conversion member (51) absorbs said light and generates photoacoustic waves. When light of the second wavelength is emitted from the second light emission unit (154a), the light absorption/conversion member (51) absorbs said light and converts the light into light of a third wavelength. |
