A coin handling apparatus provided with a coin discharge unit 60 that discharges coins of different denominations which are stored separately, said coin discharge unit 60 being provided with: a plurality of discharge mechanisms 70, each of which is provided to be associated with a corresponding one of a plurality of retention tube units 511 for storing coins of predetermined different denominations separately, and each of which can be caused to perform a discharge operation to discharge coins stored in the corresponding retention tube unit 511; a motor 81 which functions as a common drive source for the plurality of discharge mechanisms 70 when these discharge mechanisms 70 perform a discharge operation; a drive force transmission means which can transmit drive force from the motor 81 to each of the discharge mechanisms 70; and a coupling permission means which, when a discharge command is given, couples the drive force transmission means to the discharge mechanism 70 associated with the retention tube unit 511 storing the coins to be discharged, thereby causing the discharge mechanism 70 to perform a discharge operation. |
