PURPOSE:To develop a metal mold for producing a high-precision golf ball by forming a metal electrocast layer on a male prototype master for the golf ball, dissolving and removing the master from the electrocast layer. CONSTITUTION:A electrocast layer 2 of an Ni-Co alloy, etc., is formed on a male prototype master 1 for the golf ball made of brass, etc., with good adhesion, and the reference planes 3 and 4 of the master 1 are utilized to work the periphery of the mold, lap the PL 5 plane and bore a gate hole 6 and pin holes 7 and 7, and the mold is finished. The master 1 is then gouged out from a cavity 8 with a lathe, etc., to a specified thickness, and the master is dissolved and removed by a chromic acid soln. to produce a metal mold 9 for the golf ball. A golf ball excellent in dimensional accuracy is easily produced using this mold. |
