1. A method for isolating nucleic acid from a biological sample comprising:
combining a biological sample, a nucleic acid extraction reagent, and magnetic particles in a vessel; incubating the vessel under conditions suitable for binding the nucleic acid to the magnetic particles; placing the vessel in proximity to a magnetic field to allow the magnetic particles to migrate in the magnetic field to at least one surface of the vessel; substantially removing the nucleic acid extraction reagent from the vessel; removing the magnetic field from the proximity of the vessel; resuspending the magnetic beads in an elution solution comprising at least 20 mM sodium chloride (NaCl) to form an elution composition; incubating the elution composition under conditions suitable for releasing at least some of the nucleic acid from the magnetic particles into the solution; placing the vessel in proximity to a magnetic field to allow the magnetic particles to migrate in the magnetic field to at least one surface of the vessel; and removing at least some of the elution solution comprising at least some of the released nucleic acid from the vessel, thereby isolating nucleic acid from the sample. |
