Embodiments of wavelength-tunable type surface emitting lasers including an active layer and excitation units and for exciting the surface emitting laser are included, and the excitation units excite the active layer of the surface emitting laser so that a carrier occupation state of an energy level that can oscillate different wavelength in different areas of the active layer of the surface emitting laser in the XY in-plane direction is obtained.
