A method and apparatus for pairing resources to equipment is provided herein. During operation a resource pairing engine (RPE) determines public-safety officers at the incident scene, determines equipment associated with the public-safety officers at the incident scene, determines capabilities of the public-safety officers at the incident scene, determines the capabilities of the equipment associated with the public-safety officers at the incident scene, determines the resources at the incident scene, and transmits instructions to pair resources at the incident scene to public-safety officers equipment for monitoring and controlling the equipment.

accessing a database and determining public-safety officers at an incident scene; accessing the database and determining equipment associated with the public-safety officers at the incident scene; accessing the database and determining capabilities of the public-safety officers at the incident scene; accessing the database and determining capabilities of the equipment associated with the public-safety officers at the incident scene; accessing the database and determining resources at the incident scene; and transmitting instructions to pair resources at the incident scene to public-safety officers' equipment based on the capabilities of the public-safety officers at the incident scene; wherein the equipment operated by the first officer comprises any device capable of controlling and monitoring the first resource.
