The present invention relates to running axles of the raisable type for lorries. The running axle according to the invention is essentially characterised in that it includes a rotating shaft 3, means for mounting on the shaft, rolling means 5, suspension means for connecting the shaft with the chassis 2 of the vehicle, a lever arm 7, means for rotationally mounting one end 8 of the lever arm about a pin 9 which is fixed with respect to the chassis 2, means 11 for mounting the other end 12 of the lever arm with the shaft, a crank 14 secured to the arm and means for causing the transitional displacement of a connecting rod 16 with respect to the chassis between at least two positions so that, in a first direction 17 of displacement, the connecting rod comes into contact with a point 18 on the crank and, in the opposite direction of displacement 19, so that the connecting rod moves away from the point.
