PURPOSE:To improve the decomposition and flatness of a liquid crystal polymer by coating a soln. contg. a solvent having the b.p. lower than either of the transition temp. from the smectic phase to isotropic phase of the polymer or the transition temp. from the nematic phase to the isotropic phase on a substrate and drying the coating. CONSTITUTION:The soln. prepd. by dissolving the siloxane liquid crystal polymer into the solvent system having the b.p. lower than the smectic.isotropic phase transition temp. or nematic.isotropic phase transition temp. of said polymer is coated on the transparent conductive substrate, by which the siloxane liquid crystal polymer layer is provided. The siloxane liquid crystal polymer includes the two systems of which the phase transition are shown in the figure. The b.p. of the solvent to be used is set lower than the temp. TSI or TNI. The layer which has a uniform thickness and is uniformly and tightly adhered to the transparent conductive substrate is thereby formed. Easy formation of the liquid crystal coated film having a uniform thickness to a long size on the transparent conductive substrate is also possible.
