PURPOSE:To obtain a sintered porous article having excellent mechanical strength and resistance to chemicals and heat, by sintering fine powder of a polyamide-imide resin having a specified particle diameter and particle size distribution at a temp. not lower than the softening temp. of the resin and not higher than the decomposition temp. thereof. CONSTITUTION:The fine powder of a polyamide-imide resin having a particle diameter and a particle size distribution such that at least 98% thereof is composed of particles having a particle diameter of 4-100mu as measured by a Coulter counter and length-average particle size D1 and weight-average particle size D4 as calculated based on the particle size distribution of this portion obtd. by a Coulter counter are D1<=20mu and D4/D1<=3, is sintered by heating it at a temp. not lower than the softening temp. of the resin and not higher than the decomposition temp. thereof. As the polyamide-imide resin, polyamide resins having a repeating unit of the formula (wherein Ar is a trivalent arom. group contg. at least one benzene ring; R is a bivalent arom or aliph. group) as the main structural unit are preferred. |
