1. A surgical stapling apparatus comprising:
a staple cartridge containing at least one staple and including a staple ejecting surface having an opening through which the at least one staple is ejected; an anvil having a staple forming surface, wherein one of the staple ejecting surface of the staple cartridge or the staple forming surface of the anvil includes a plurality of pins, each pin of the plurality of pins extending along an axis transverse to the staple ejecting surface or the staple forming surface, and laterally spaced inwardly of outer side edges of the staple ejecting surface or the staple forming surface; and a buttress positioned on the staple cartridge or the anvil, the buttress having at least one bioactive agent, and including a plurality of holes extending therethrough, the buttress releasably attached to the staple cartridge or the anvil by frictional engagement of each hole of the plurality of holes of the buttress with a pin of the plurality of pins of the staple cartridge or the anvil.
