A method of making a composition of matter, said method comprising: providing synthetic calcium silicate hydrate having a crystalline base structure; mixing said synthetic calcium silicate hydrate with water, sodium hydroxide, and calcium hydroxide, to provide a slurry; providing said slurry to a reactor; pressurizing said reactor and carbonating said synthetic calcium silicate hydrate by addition of carbon dioxide or carbonic acid to said reactor while agitating contents of said reactor; extracting calcium from said crystalline base structure of said synthetic calcium silicate hydrate, and transforming said synthetic calcium silicate hydrate to silicon dioxide, to form a fibrous amorphous silica component, said fibrous amorphous silica component provided in three-dimensional haystack configuration that presents a fibrous structure having interstitial spaces between amorphous silica fibers with inner layers and outer layers with irregular interlacing amorphous silica fibers or filaments which are fixed in relation to each other; precipitating aragonite, said aragonite attached to said fibrous amorphous silica component; and wherein a nano-composite product is produced, said nano-composite product comprising fibrous structured amorphous silica and precipitated aragonite comprising needle shaped structures, said nano-composite product having a major axis of length L in a range from about 10 microns to about 40 microns and a surface area of from about 40 meters squared per gram to about 200 meters squared per gram.
