Technologies are disclosed herein that allow for utilization of memory channel storage (“MCS”) devices in a computing system. The MCS device may be detected during a boot phase of the computing system, and the address data for the MCS device may be detected through repeated manipulation of a logical offset. The address data may then be stored for later use in memory allocation.

1. A computer-implemented method for determining an address of a memory channel storage (“MCS”) device, the computer-implemented method comprising performing computer-implemented operations for:
identifying that a MCS device is deployed at a computing system; locating an address range for the MCS device based on a logical offset from a physical memory boundary; writing a test pattern at an address based upon the logical offset: reading data at address location 0 of the physical memory boundary; determining whether the data at the address location 0 is the test pattern; in response to determining that the data at the address location 0 is the test pattern, assembling an MCS device data structure, the MCS device data structure comprising the physical memory boudary and the logical offset, and string the MFCS device data structure in non-volatile memory.
