<p>Sound-proof or thermally insulating plates are mfd. continuously from foamed plastics, e.g. high or low pressure polyethylenes or mixed polymers of polyolefines, polypropylenes or polyacrylates, by mixing the pulverulent plastics material intimately with a foaming agent, spreading the mixture with a doctor blade onto a continuously moving rubber band, passing the layer through a number of heating and calendering zones, cooling the foamed layer, stripping the layer of the band and then passing the layer to a transverse cutter in which the layer is cut into plates of required length.</p> |
