A clamping apparatus (38) for a cable gland is disclosed. The clamping apparatus comprises a first body member (64) having a first aperture therethrough for receiving a cable (4), a plurality of clamping members (56) pivotably mounted relative to the first body member, and a second body member (66) for causing the clamping members to move relative to the first body member into clamping engagement with the cable.

1. A clamping apparatus comprising:
a body having a first aperture therethrough for receiving at least part of a cable; a plurality of clamping members moveably mounted relative to said body; and at least one actuator device for causing said clamping members to move relative to said body; wherein said clamping members are pivotably mounted relative to said body, and at least one said actuator device is adapted to cause said clamping members to pivot relative to said body such that at least a respective part of a plurality of said clamping members is brought into clamping engagement with at least part of a cable passing through said first aperture.
